Which reimburses more: the orthopedic or neurological category?
A:

In most cases, the orthopedic pays more. In some cases, as when the resident also has cognitive impairment or SLP comorbidity, Acute Neurologic as the primary diagnosis will make overall reimbursement greater than a primary diagnosis which maps to the Orthopedic clinical category. In summary, you really need to examine on a case by case basis, considering the functional score range and other clinical areas and service needs present, including but not limited to those that impact the SLP component.
